Westchester District of New York Conference Celebrates Fifth Sunday!

AME Zion

Updated: Apr 12, 2020

It was just one “those” days where God puts everything into place…People all on the same page, temperature is just right, and the Sermon (and Choir) is amazing—No other way to say it, Fifth Sunday Service was a Blessed Day! It started out with our wonderful Presiding Elder, Rev. Isidoa Branch and First Lady Susan Branch (who had been traveling all over the vast Westchester District visiting churches) coming to visit! Then, the Rev. Dr. Stephen W. Pogue of Greater Centennial AME gave the inspiring, and uplifting Word: With God—and hard work— we can, despite the odds, do anything we put our minds (and hearts) to. #Truth

Thank you so much to the Westchester District Conference of the AME Zion Church, our Presiding Elder, Rev. Isidoa Branch and a special thank you to our Guest Pastor, Rev. Dr. Stephen W. Pogue of GreaterCentennial AME for his inspiring (and motivational) sermon. Thank you to our sister churches, State Street AME Zion of Hudson (Rev. & Mrs. Darwin Abraham), Mt. Tabor AME Zion of Catskill (Rev. Elizabeth Brantum) for helping to organize! Sis. Susan Johnson of the Harriet Tubman Pilgrimage for coming! Thank you to Sis. Hazel James & Family for her gift (and lending a helping hand)! Also, thank you also to both Catering@ Shop Rite for artfully creating the massive six- foot subs and salads, and RubyMae’s Restaurant & Catering, which provided the luscious green beans and (ab-“soul”utely) amazing Baked Macaroni & Cheese (receiving rave reviews from all).

Fifth Sunday can best be summed up by how we assembled: Many members, many talents/gifts, unified under one roof, working together, to celebrate Our Lord. That’s family.

If a picture could have captured the feeling in the Church yesterday—God was definitely in the house!

Thank you, church family, for coming from both near and afar so we can celebrate together.
