Calendar Says Spring, Weather Says Winter--but God is always on Time!

10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

-Isaiah 55: 10-11

So, it’s March 27th and a balmy 32 degrees (Celsius); the calendar says one thing, the weather another! We are reminded, in this Lenten season, that though the cold is difficult and stubborn, we are marching ever closer to Easter. It is during this time of fasting, penance and abstinence we must stay faithful, despite obstacles we may face. We must have faith.

Faith has been what we have held onto, our guiding star and compass.

On that note, we at AME Zion Church of Kingston are reflecting on how we have all navigated the pandemic— and how we must continue to. Over the past 2 years, the church calendar has primarily reflected virtual worship services meetings, Zoom meetings, and conference calls—which were necessary to ensure the safety of parishioners, the public and our respective communities. The first three months of the calendar have almost passe, and we are now planning for the next three (Easter and ,hopefully, warmer temperatures here we come)!

Looking forward to sharing more soon…
